The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio is launching a new program called "Arts for All," designed to make the arts experience more accessible to a wider audience. This program offers $10 discounted tickets, and even free in some cases, for those who are Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) recipients.
The goal of the program is to break down the financial and social barriers that often prevent certain communities from enjoying the arts. The Tobin Center hopes to expand its reach and commitment to the community by offering more affordable prices for a variety of events, including concerts, ballet productions, opera, youth orchestras and more.
The Arts for All program will depend on the availability of discounted tickets to specific events, but it is expected that at least one or two events per month will be available to SNAP and WIC recipients. Those interested in participating should register online and will receive periodic email updates on available events.
The program is made possible through donor support and joins other similar programs that offer discounts and free tickets to specific groups, such as military members, educators and low-income students. Through outreach efforts at community events and local schools, the Tobin Center hopes to reach underrepresented communities and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy live performing arts.
Registration for the Arts for All program is available online and requires proof of SNAP and WIC eligibility. Tickets are non-transferable and are intended for personal use only.
