Food assistance announced for Tampa Bay hurricane victims

Residents of five counties can register online or attend specific locations

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) has unveiled Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) locations in Charlotte, Franklin, Hardee, Hernando and Sarasota counties , targeting residents affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This program targets those who are not currently receiving food assistance through the regular SNAP program.

Who can apply?

  • Residents of the above counties affected by the hurricanes.
  • Individuals who are not active SNAP recipients.

Those interested must pre-register online through the myflfamilies.com/DSNAP website from the start of each event through the last day. Those who have already completed a phone interview and were approved do not need to attend in person; theirEBT cards will be mailed to them.

Locations and dates of service

  • Charlotte and Sarasota Counties: Charlotte Sports Park (2300 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte, FL 33948), November 21-23, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Franklin County: Will S. Kendrick Park (1601 Kenneth B Cope Avenue, Carrabelle, FL 32322), November 22 - 24, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Hardee County: Family Resource Center (1016 S. 6th Avenue, Wauchula, FL 33873), November 22-24, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Hernando County: Hernando County Fairgrounds (6436 Broad Street, Brooksville, FL 34601), November 22-24, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Important Rules

  • In-person interviews are available for those who did not complete the phone interview, but are not required if the phone interview has already been completed.
  • Attendees should attend only the D-SNAP event for their county of residence.
