SNAP households that experienced power outages of more than four hours and reside in Barnes, Cass, Ransom, Traill, Dickey, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Richland, Sargent, Steele, Griggs, Stutsman or Grand Forks counties have 10 days from the day they lost power to apply for these replacement benefits.
Those affected in North Dakota can report their food losses to the HHS Customer Service Center at applyforhelp@nd.gov, by calling (866) 614-6005 or (701) 328-1000, or by mail at Customer Service Center, PO Box 5562, Bismarck ND 58506. They may also report the loss to the appropriate local Human Services office during normal business hours.
The replacement program will cover the amount of the loss up to the monthly benefit amount. For example, if a household reports a food loss of $50 and received $100 in SNAP benefits for December, $50 in replacement benefits will be issued once the loss has been verified.
It is important to note that the maximum replacement amount cannot exceed the SNAP benefit received by the household in December.
